August 5, 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week features a book related topic that offers you the opportunity to spotlight your Top Ten.

Topic:
Top Ten Books I'd Give To Readers Who Have Never Read Christian Fiction

I think I will break this topic down a little bit. So, here we go!

1. Historical Fiction
Born of Persuasion by Jessica Dotta
Against the Tide by Elizabeth Camden
Courting Morrow Little by Laura Frantz
A Noble Groom by Jody Hedlund

 2. Contemporary
When I Fall in Love by Susan May Warren
Meant to Be Mine by Becky Wade
Submerged by Dani Pettrey
Made to Last by Melissa Tagg

3. YA
Anomaly by Krista McGee
Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren
Captives by Jill Willamson
The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson

4. Biblical
In the Field of Grace by Tessa Afshar
Gods & Kings by Lynn Austin
Day of War by Cliff Graham
Love in a Broken Vessel by Mesu Andrews
The Well by Stephanie Landsem

These would be the books I would recommend to anyone. If someone has been in this genre for a while or who is new to it. Each of these stories have the ability to wrap you up into it and immerse you. Some are gritty stories, while others have a quietness about them, but all tell phenomenal stories.

  1. The Christian series about end times for young people completely turned me off Christian fiction. And that is probably not fair.

Here's my list of nonfiction you can't resist!

  2. Totally agree with Waterfall and Coutring Morrow Little. Both are two of my favorite books. The River of Time series is my favorite and is actually what got me into reading after hating it for so many years! :)

  5. Deb, I understand. If you find a series of books that you don't connect with it can scare you off. Hopefully there are others out there that you might like :-)

  7. Jenni, Sometimes the story is about finding Jesus, or the character already knows Jesus and it's about leaning on faith to see them through the trials. Sometimes the story line has a strong faith based story, other are a little quieter on the faith.

Another thing about Christian fiction is that is doesn't focus on graphic violence or sex. They can have those aspects, but it's not the main point of the story. And there isn't cussing.

  11. Thank you very much for including Meant to Be Mine on your list! It's certainly a hope and prayer of mine that God will bring my books into the hands of non-Christian fiction readers and non-believers.

It's a treat to see several of my author friends included on this list. :)

    Warmly, Becky

  14. What a great list! I've read most of these ... except I haven't read any on the Biblical fiction list. Should definitely remedy that :-)

  18. A great list of books and I am happy to see that you focused on a few different genres too! I want to share a book I just read titled "Watson's Way" by author Joel Lund (http://bit.ly/WatsonsWay). Too often I read books that somehow feel like the author was not connected to the subject, but this one I can honestly say the author wrote from his heart. Using a family dog named Watson to teach us about the struggles of life and growing up, Mr. Watson explores many subjects that touched my heart. God is all around us impacting everything we do and this book reaches out to you with a level of kindness and spirituality rarely seen these days. Buy it for your child and for yourself, you will not regret it.
