Top Ten Tuesday: Mandatory Reads

October 15, 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week features a book related question and you can highlight your Top Ten!

Topic:

This week is focusing on books that you have been "forced" to read...or they were mandatory.

I was home-schooled, so as I got older, I had a little more leeway in the books I had to read. I was allowed options. College, required reading lists. Some of the books I was required to read I actually ended up liking. The others, well, it's safe to say, they were one and done. The books range from 4th grade to college.

The Ones I liked:

1. Mara: Daughter of the Nile by Eloise Jarvis McGraw
2. The Killer Angles by Michael Shaara
3. Mythology by Edith Hamilton
4. Tales of Ancient Egypt by Roger Lancelyn Green

The Ones that Dragged:

5. Hamlet by William Shakespeare
6. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
7. Robin Hood by Alexander Dumas
8. Beowulf by Unknown
9. The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare

That's as far as I could get. I couldn't think of a tenth.

What books were "forced" on you to read?

  1. I am not sure that I could remember or come up with such a list, so I skipped this one. :)

Cool that you were home-schooled, Kate; that was my life also.
