Review:

What a ride! This book has a little bit of everything in it. Mystery, romance, and a bit of suspense! And let's not forget the beautiful setting up Europe. In this book, it takes us to the lower parts of France, Austria, and a part of Italy.

Cora Kensington has had the Cinderella dream that every other girl has ever hoped for. Cora has been presented with this gift to travel with her unknown siblings, by a father she never knew. In Glamorous Illusions, Cora is tossed into a whirl wind and just doesn't know what is going on and can't really find her footing until a kidnappers threaten to harm the people she has been getting to know. In Grave Consequences, Cora has finally figured out her footing and is determined to get back to school to finish her teaching certificate when the trip is over with, ready to tell her future students about her adventures. However, several of her siblings and new friends have indicated that her hopes may not be inline with her father and what she wants isn't befitting to a girl of her station.

It becomes a question of when is a gift no longer a gift and what is the purpose?

Questions are answered in Grave Consequences that were presented in Glamorous Illusions and more are posed. Cora has much to figure out in her personal and social life. With siblings, her father, and with romantic interests. There were some twists I never saw coming. We are introduced to new characters and all of our favorites are back as well, along with not so favorite. The development of the several characters was great and I will say, one character that I thought was on the edge of OK, proved that he was OK. And after reading this book, I'm still very leery of Wallace Kensington. I can't wait to see what will happen in Glittering Promises!

Too Read!

  2. Great review, Kate!

This series is a wonderful "journey" story and I admire so much about Cora. She has class yet Lisa never forgets Cora's humble beginnings. Each of her struggles are human nature and realistic to any girl being thrust into this situation - I like what you said about this being a kind of "Cinderella" story. That's a grand coloration.

It was also nice to see Pierre prove to be more of a "good guy."

  4. @Rissi, Yes! Her struggles are very human and real. I love that it is something that is connectable. And, I'm with you, I was happy to see Pierre prove himself more. He seemed less fairy tale prince in this one. He was introduced in grandeur, and now he is away from it and is more personable.
